About Jorinde Reijnierse
Jorinde Reijnierse was born on February the 29th in Beverwijk. Currently she lives in Castricum. In 2005 she started photographing and two years later she began her study at the Royal of Art in The Hague where she graduated in july 2011.
Jorinde makes authentic photos that are close to herself. She often uses locations near her home such as the Northern Holland coastal landscape. In her work she uses metaphors and associations to translate a certain issue or atmosphere in to a photo. She works in an experimental way whereby she uses attributes or a specific location to tell the story she wants to show in the photo. There should always be something happening in her photos. Jorinde tries to add something weird or fascinating to the image so people can look at it longer and search for their own interpretations of the photo. She wants the viewer to feel a certain atmosphere. The photos are quite clear but you will have to look and search for a while to find the meaning of them and the story behind them. This gives her work some kind of tension.
Another passion of Jorinde is music and she also uses music in her photos. Jorinde makes concert photos for companies as 3voor12-Northern Holland (on-line music magazine) and music venue De Bakkerij. In her concert photos she captures the emotions and energy of a concert in an image in which the 'moment' is important. Besides concerts Jorinde also makes promotional photos and album covers for bands. In order to make these photos, she first researches the music style and band image and translates these findings into a photo. The feeling and atmosphere of the music must be visible in those photos but without being exaggerative. She sometimes uses the band members as models.
